Plans have been submitted to alter the Clock Tower Cafe in Sidmouth, construct a loft conversion in Colaton Raleigh and build a home office in Upottery this week.

The Clock Tower Cafe in Sidmouth would like to demolish the existing conservatory to the side of the building and build a brand new one.

The Clock Tower is a Grade II listed castellated building sitting above Jacob’s Ladder in Sidmouth, within the East Devon AONB. The building was originally a 16th-century lime kiln, but during World War II, its position overlooking the beach meant it became a gunnery defending the coastline. In the 1990’s the building was restored to include much of the detail we see today, including the timber conservatory to the north, to which this application relates.
