Honiton Community College’s students and staff are today celebrating a set of fantastic Post-16 results.

These are a testament to the hard work of our brilliant Year 13 cohort. Students have enjoyed success in both their vocational and A-Level courses, with the vast majority of grades within the College being either at or above a C. Almost one in five results have been achieved at either an A or A*. Additionally, all students in English, Maths, Computer Science and Physics (conventionally more challenging subjects) achieved grade C or higher. Across our vocational subjects, the average grade students achieved is a Distinction (the second highest grade). These results will enable our year 13 students to access the next exciting chapter of their lives.

Alex Kirkbride, Principal of Honiton Community College said, “It was a real privilege for the staff and I to see our Year 13 students this morning and congratulate them on their results. This cohort of students has faced unprecedented challenges, posed by the impact of national lockdowns. They have worked incredibly well to overcome these challenges and secure these results.”

Selena Burroughs, Director of Post-16 said, “Sharing the Year 13’s Post-16 educational journey has been an absolute honour and today they can be proud of everything they have achieved. Despite the general picture nationally being one of ‘grade deflation’ at A-Level, here at Honiton Community College our students have largely managed to buck that trend, securing grades comparable to pre-pandemic levels. Students will now be starting their next step by taking up their place at some top-ranking universities, apprenticeships, employment, and structured gap years travelling abroad. They will take with them the wealth of experience and skills they have gained over the last 7 years at Honiton Community College and we wish them well in their next exciting adventure in life.

Whilst we have seen some fantastic individual achievements, it has been the collectively strong results of the Year 13 cohort which has been most impressive. I am exceptionally proud of the students and wish them all an exciting and fulfilling future.”

Our Year 13 cohort have a range of destinations in mind for their next steps. These range from gap years and full-time employment to continued study at Russell Group universities. All will be supported by the wealth of experience and strong outcomes that they will leave Honiton Community College with.

Well done Year 13 – stay in contact with the College as you make your journey through life. We wish you all the very best with your futures and next steps.
