Foodsave CIC is looking for 'diligent, energetic and experienced' directors to join its board.

Set up in 2020, Foodsave works across East Devon and Exeter to create zero food waste communities. After starting as a small community group in Honiton, it now redistributes multiple tonnes of food to local families every week in more than 250 food parcels.

Foodsave CIC works with businesses and individuals to ensure no useable food goes to waste. Its volunteers run collections from more than 65 locations every week, saving food from the bin in warehouses, supermarkets, corner shops and even farmers’ fields.

The non-profit is looking for three new directors to contribute actively to the board, playing an active part in ensuring Foodsave CIC’s compliance with relevant legislation and supporting the strategic vision and operational management of the organisation.  Since the CIC currently hires no paid staff, this unpaid role may include human resources management in the future.

Jake Bonetta, founder and director of Foodsave CIC, said he is excited to welcome new faces at this time.

He said: “Foodsave is ever-growing as an organisation, with multiple community fridge projects under development across East Devon and Exeter.

"Now more than ever, being a director of Foodsave CIC will provide great opportunities to be involved with a major step change within a fledgling non-profit. We can’t wait to hear from you!”

The role of director is estimated to take up 10 hours per week, depending on the level of involvement of the person who takes the job. They can work either remotely or from Foodsave’s Honiton offices. REgular meetings take place in Honiton.

As part of Foodsave’s voluntary family, directors will receive training including a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification. They will also get free access to all Foodsave events and volunteer gatherings, as well as an open, transparent and friendly working environment.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on Saturday, September 16, with in-person interviews taking place during the following week. Applications can be made via Foodsave's CharityJob advert online. Alternatively, call Jake Bonetta on 07869 859142, email jake@foodsave.org.uk, or write to Unit 2 R/O 18 King Street, Honiton, Devon EX14 1AF. Applications should include a CV, including two references, and a cover letter (maximum one side of A4).
