The 2023 concert season has culminated with a grand concert by the London Handel Players on December 7, attracting the largest audience of the season.

The SeatonMusic concert took place as the musicians and attendees filled the night with festive cheer, presenting a beautiful mix of traditional carols and music from Handel's Messiah.

Andrew Garlick, a resident from Chard, provided a delightful harpsichord for the event.

Silas Woolston gracefully played the instrument complementing the violins and violas played by Adrian Butterfield, Oliver Weber, and Rachel Byrt.

The concert began with the sound of a sopranino recorder played by Rachel Brown who performed the first verse of In Dulci Jubilo, entering from the back of the hall.

Further entertainment included a brief educational session during the second half by the ensemble, explaining unfamiliar instruments such as the voice flute, Baroque flutes, and a seventeenth century oversized viola held across the player's body.

The concert concluded with a charming encore of handbells with stringed accompaniment.

The next Seaton Music concert is set for February 22 at the Gateway.

The Hague String Trio will be performing a programme of music by Haydn, Beethoven, Dame Ethel Smyth, and Emmy Frensel Wegener.

Tickets are available at £18, with free admission for under-19s and full-time students.
