The winner of a Christmas card competition organised by a Bolton MP has been announced.

There were more than 1,000 entries from primary school children across the area for the competition organised by Bolton West MP Chris Green, with an array of designs including snowmen, Christmas trees and one that even featured the Town Hall.

Joey Heath from Claypool Primary School, 10, was named the winner for his design of a snowman with a Christmas Tree inside a snow globe, which Chris said showcased Christmas perfectly.

The six runners-up are Millie Doxey, 10, from Beacon Primary School, Ruby Bailey, 8, from Chorley New Road Primary School, Logan Skelly, 9, from St Mary’s RC Primary School, Georgie Williams, 11 from Eatock Primary School, Lucas Rhodes, 9, from St George’s CE Primary School and Lola Butterworth, 10, from The Gates Primary School.

Mr Green said: “For me one of the highlights every year is the run up to Christmas and starting the Christmas card competition and we had well over 1,000 from primary school children right across the constituency this year.

“There were a mixture of designs, all of the Christmas themes were captured from Santa Claus to Christmas trees and Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and I was particularly delighted by one of the entries that really put all of those different elements together around Bolton Town Hall, which really captured Christmas and the feeling of Christmas.

“So hopefully at Balmoral he will have it on his mantelpiece.

“Joey won the competition and his design is a snowman and Christmas tree in a snow globe, and I think it is a really lovely design and it works really well for the card.

“There were six runners up and one winner and the six runners up designs are also showcased inside the card.

“There could only be one winner, but we got to six runners up to be printed on the inside.”
