Two East Devon businesses have been given their Food Standards Agency hygiene rating this week.

The scores were published on Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 29.

Woodland & Sea Ltd, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at 3 Staples Mews, Exeter Road, Exmouth was given a score of four out of five after assessment on November 21, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

Hills Farm Kitchen, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at Hills Farm, Whitford Road, Kilmington, Axminster was given a score of four out of five after assessment on November 22, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of East Devon's 287 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 204 (71%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

Ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection. It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at their premises and online.

4 – hygiene standards are good

3 – hygiene standards are generally satisfactory

2 – some improvement is necessary

1 – major improvement is necessary

0 – urgent improvement is required
