Volunteers from Seaton Beer and District Branch of the RNLI were out attending events in December selling RNLI Christmas cards, calendars, diaries and gifts at Beer, Seaton and Colyton.

On Friday, December, 1 Pat Watterson and Wendy Cummins took part in the Seaton Carnival Christmas Parade. RNLI Ted 1 was in his lifeboat on a very cold but great evening. On Sunday December 3 they attended Axe Yacht Club's AGM and thanked them for their continuing support and for a cheque for £758 from their events during the year plus a cheque for £1,800.50 was presented to community fundraising manager Jason Luff.

They concluded 2023 with their Tesco Seaton Christmas Collection on Saturday December 23 and collected £680.47. Additional donations on our card payment machine will be allocated to us in due course. They would like to thank Tesco Seaton for their support and everyone who donated during our day.

The year's first event is our RNLI SOS Table Top Sale at the Mariners Hall, Beer on Saturday 27th January. Table hire is £6 for one and £10 for two. The hall will be open to sellers at 8am and the sale is from 9am to 12.30pm. There will be bacon baps, tea, coffee and a variety of stalls including their raffle, card tombola, bric-a-brac and books. There will also be RNLI 200 Years Anniversary gifts and souvenirs. For further  information and a booking form call 01297 23040 or email to wac500@hotmail.co.uk

On Monday March 4, they will be holding their RNLI 200th year anniversary coffee morning with branch  archives at the Mariners Hall from 10am to 1pm. The morning will have a 200 years theme including cake and other items. They hope to open the Shop at Jubilee Gardens on the day. Further details to be available nearer the time.

The branch will also be held at the beginning of March and due to retirements additional shop and fundraising volunteers are needed.  On Sunday March 17, they will be at the Grizzly Race Day Drink Station with Beer Village Heritage at Beer Head Caravan Park from 9am to 4pm.

Wendy Cummins ended by saying: "We thank everyone who supported us in 2023 as we look forward to a busy 2024 celebrating 200 years of the RNLI."
