Having missed out on East Devon funding for online tourism, a grass-roots group of Axminster residents pulled together to build a website for the community powered by the community, celebrating the best of the community.

Matt Smith, from Axminster Waffle House said: "We are squeezed in a corner of East Devon, on the fault lines of three counties, with desirable coastal destinations within reach, it is easy to overlook the historic market town of Axminster. With recent notable high-street closures and a missed opportunity for online tourism funding, a local group of residents took up arms to promote the town they proudly call home."

What has emerged from this was a small group working in partnership with Axminster Chamber of Commerce and Totally Locally Axminster, headed up by Francesca Dowdeswell and Matt Smith from local organisations; Swish and Flick and Waffle.

The mission; to connect both local residents and tourists with places to eat, drink and shop; the events and the community groups that make Axminster known for its strong community.

Although operating solely with volunteers and on a shoe string budget, the group are driven by a strong passion for their town and hope that the website will prove to be a valuable for the town.
