Beer Church of England Primary school has jumped from a school 'requiring improvement' to a Good and in some parts 'outstanding.'
The latest Ofsted inspection graded the school as good in the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management and outstanding in the early years provision.
Ofsted praised the pupils at the school, saying they behave well, both in class and around school and that bullying is rare, but staff resolve it quickly if it does occur.
It was found that (SEND) pupils also do well because of 'well-tailored approaches' that support them to learn successfully.
Parents are also overwhelmingly positive about the school. One parent’s view echoed that of many others when they said, ‘The school and its staff have been nothing but amazing.’
Pupils are motivated to learn the exciting curriculum that the school has created and they attend school regularly.
Reception to Year 6 pupils 'build on their subject knowledge' For example, in history, pupils learn about events that have shaped people’s lives, both locally and nationally.
However, in some subjects, for example, in maths, some pupils do not have secure understanding of concepts, such as multiplication, before they move on to more challenging problems.
Reception to key stage one pupils respond 'extremely well to reading stories that 'immerse in the imaginary worlds of the stories that they read.'
Pupils in Years one and two learn to read and support pupils to read regularly and listen to a breadth of texts.
Ofsted says: "Governors and the trust know the school well and have supported the school’s improvement journey. Governors gather a breadth of information about the school to pose challenging questions to school leaders. Staff are overwhelmingly proud to work at the school and feel that leaders are mindful of their workload and wellbeing."
Inspectors did say that the school needed to improve teaching in the curriculum in some subjects and it needs to 'ensure that teaching is suitably adapted so that all pupils learn well.'
The school was last inspected in January 2020, where they were graded Requires Improvement.
