Organiers of Honiton Carers annual lunch at The Bowd Inn, Sidmouth has hailed the event a 'huge success'.

They had been awarded a grant from Honiton Council to go towards their annual lunch and transport, which was gratefully received and very much appreciated.

Having an annual lunch out for the carers means an awful lot as for some it is the only chance to go to a restaurant to enjoy a 3 course meal.

The proprietors of The Bowd Inn Carole & Darren Yates with the help of their lovely staff managed incredibly well today despite their recent kitchen fire.  They were working with half a kitchen and freezers & fridges in the yard, running off generators which only gave them limited grid time before cutting off for a while. The food however was perfect, and I know everyone enjoyed it to the full. Generous portions and beautifully presented. The selection of vegetables were outstanding and the service next to none.

The Rock Choir entertained us wonderfully in the bar area after the meal. It gave us a chance to mix and socialise instead of just speaking with the people immediately around us on our own table.

The hamper raffle was a great success too.

The prizes were as follows

1st Prize 12 Jigsaw puzzles (one for each month of the year) plus a puzzle sorter was won by Jenny Bagnall, who sadly does not enjoy jigsaws so donated it to Kay Lawrence who needless to say was thrilled to bits.

2nd Prize a fabulous huge hamper kindly donated by The Bowd Inn and won by Mary Pullan

3rd Prize a Pamper Hamper which was won by Lisa Lloyd

4th Prize a lovely food hamper which was won by Katrina Davis, who promptly opened it and shared it around with everyone. Very generous gesture and much appreciated by us all.

We would like to sincerely thank Honiton Town Council and the proprietors of The Bowd Inn Carole & Darren Yates for their generosity.
