The Gateway Theatre has won the Community Support Award at this year’s Jurassic Business Awards ceremony held at Sidmouth Rugby Club on 29 February.

Recognising the importance of the Gateway Theatre in the community, giving audiences the opportunity to see live theatre and music, screenings, films and many other events, plus the support it gives to a wide range of local organisations, including the U3A, dance, music, and sports groups, the award is testimony to the invaluable service the theatre gives to the community and beyond.

Theatre Manager Sophia Moseley said, ‘this award is fantastic, and recognises just how important the theatre is to Seaton and the surrounding area, and is testament to the dedication and devotion of our staff and volunteers who make sure the theatre is here for everyone. As a charity, we rely heavily on the goodwill of our volunteers to help keep the theatre running, never more so than now with spiralling costs and reduced income. So this award is a real shot in the arm for us all.’

Organised by Marketing West, the awards are a celebration of the area’s business excellence, and recognises organisations for their contribution to the local economy and community spirit.
