Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support has received two big donations this month from local fundraising initiatives.

Local solicitors Scott Rowe presented the charity with a cheque for £5,305, and Lyme Regis Golf Club handed over a donation of £1,200.

Scott Rowe, which has branches in Axminster, Lyme Regis and Chard, adopted ALCS as its Charity of the Year for 2023. Staff held coffee mornings, sold greetings cards, supported ALCS at the Axminster Vale Show and hosted a Christmas drinks reception. They also took part in ALCS' annual sponsored walk.

A spokesperson for ALCS said: "The contribution from Scott Rowe will significantly enhance ALCS's ability to provide practical assistance, emotional support, and a strong sense of community to cancer patients and their families in the Axminster and Lyme area.

"ALCS wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Scott Rowe for their unwavering support and generosity. Their dedication to our cause has made a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by cancer in our community."

Midweek Herald: Rosemary Shepherd presents the cheque to Mary Kahn

The donation from Lyme Regis  Golf Club was raised by members during Rosemary Shepherd’s term as Ladies’ Captain. She presented the cheque to ALCS’ founder Mary Kahn at the club’s Ladies’ AGM earlier this month.

Mary said: “ALCS extends its heartfelt gratitude to Rosemary Shepherd and the members of Lyme Regis Golf Club. Their contribution will enable the charity to continue providing vital assistance and support to those affected by cancer in the Axminster and Lyme area.”

Anyone who would like to support cancer patients and their families in the Axminster and Lyme area is invited to consider volunteering their time or making a donation. ALCS says every contribution, no matter how small, helps make a meaningful difference.

This year's sponsored walk will take place on Saturday 14th September. For details on how to get involved, to find out more about volunteering opportunities or to donate to ALCS, visit www.axminsterandlymecancersupport.co.uk.
