A fundraising barn dance is being held by the Honiton & District Lions Club at The Beehive on Saturday, April 6.

The event will benefit local charities supported by the Lions.

The barn dance, with caller Jeremy M Child, will start at 7.30pm, and the bar will be open from 7pm.

Several local organisations and good causes have received donations from the Lions in their latest distribution of the money collected from the public during 2023. 

Awliscombe Primary School has received £250 for the purchase of litter picking equipment. £200 has  been given to Offwell resident Steve Branch, who is running in the London Marathon to raise money for VICTA, a national charity that provides support for children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted.

A Lions member who took part in Hospiscare's Men's Walk has received £250, and Honiton Museum has been given £500 for building works to restore a section of the lath and plaster ceiling.

A donation of £520 was made to Ukrainian refugees living in the Honiton area.

In addition to this, Devon Air Ambulance has received £620 from the Lions, which was collected by several members at Tesco during two days in December.

This month the Lions have carried out their annual Easter egg raffle, with the support of local businesses and pub landlords. This initiative usually raises at least £1,000 for local good causes.
