Southwest's top-tier group, the Deane Big Band, is set for a celebration of big band music on April 18 at 8pm.

The band, known for their spirited exploration of big band music, will devote the night to honour the works of jazz giants Duke Ellington and Charlie Mingus at The Beehive, situated at Dowell Street, Honiton, EX141LZ.

From 'Take the A Train' to 'Don’t Get Around Much Anymore', the band promises an immersion into Ellington's iconic repertoire.

Furthermore, a nod to Mingus, well-regarded as a fervent Ellington adherent, potentially pushes the evening into high gear.

Audience members can expect numbers like 'Better Get it in Your Soul' and 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat', which carry the added bonus of improvisational excitement.

The Beehive, while offering the thrill of big band music through a series of showcase concerts, is presenting an exclusive chance for spectators to witness the full range of big band music portrayed by the Deane Big Band.

The band's ability to recreate the fervour of both Ellington and Mingus, alongside their own adaptation of Weather Report tunes, sets them apart.

The band is making its return following its successful January performance at The Beehive, reinforcing their reputation for providing exhilarating and high-quality entertainment.
