The East Devon District Council (EDDC) will celebrate the arrival of Spring by organising its annual Bluebell Day.

The celebration will take place on April 20 at Holyford Woods near Colyford.

A variety of guided walks, including plant medicine walks and tours around the bluebell carpets are scheduled for the day.

The first medicine walk, led by herbalist Maggie Haworth, commences at 11am and requires prior booking.

There are also countryside ranger-led walks at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm, each lasting around 90 minutes.

There will be tea and cakes for sale and a chance to eat nettle soup cooked by the campfire.

East Devon countryside team manager, James Chubb, said: "Bluebell Day is a fantastic opportunity for local residents and visitors to explore Holyford Woods.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to this special site, one which we manage throughout the year for the benefit of people and wildlife."

Visitors are reminded of the absence of vehicular access or parking at Holyford Woods.

Arrangements have been made for parking and an all-day shuttle bus service from Colyford Memorial Hall.

The bus dispatches from 10.45am until 2.30pm with the final return shuttle set for 3pm.
