Members past and present celebrate the milestone in style.

The 60th anniversary of the formation of Offwell WI was celebrated in style this month.

More than 50 past and present members, together with friends from other WIs in the group, gathered in the village hall at its July meeting.

They were welcomed by president Vanessa Smith with glasses of bubbly, Pimms or fruit punch before enjoying an evening of fun and laughter.

A buffet supper with food of all descriptions was set up down the middle of the hall to which the ladies did justice after a few games of Irish bingo – among the winners was Diana Walker, the vicar’s wife.

A beautiful iced fruit cake was made by Joan Francis, which was cut up by past president Kath Abbot before the evening ended with a sing song led by Margaret le Mesurier at the piano.

The group is looking forward to the next 60 years.
