New Lottery funded building unveiled at Littletown Primary Academy in Honiton.

Pupils at Littletown Primary Academy in Honiton will be able to ‘thrive’ thanks to a new lottery funded building.

The school was given £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to install the new building, The Garden Room, which is located in the school grounds. It will be used by the lunchtime Nurture Club and for ‘thrive’ activities in the afternoons.

Thrive is an approach that has been adopted by the school, following intensive training for selected teaching assistants. It addresses the emotional needs of some children in order to help them learn.

Around forty children in the school use the new building.

Principal Caroline Bond said: “This funding has enabled us to offer children a special place to go to, where the environment is set up to support a range of carefully planned activities. We did not have space, within the school building, to do this so effectively.

“Staff and children are really excited about the possibilities this new building will offer us. I am very grateful to school governor Sandra Hawkes for bidding on our behalf, and to the Lottery for choosing our project to fund.”
