A HONITON resident was surprised to read in last week's Herald that a county councillor is demanding action over the poor state of a trunk road. The resident, who uses the road regularly, says highways managers have told him work to repair potholes is imminent. Councillor Stuart Hughes complained about a section of the A30/A303, near Honiton, saying the road's surface between Monkton and Newcott Chef is unacceptable. The Herald reader contacted us last week to report that he contacted the Highways Agency at the beginning of the year to complain about the same defects. "I was told that work to patch up the potholes was imminent," he said. "I also found out that the road is likely to be resurfaced next year. I was surprised Councillor Hughes didn't know this.
