I think East Devon District Council should be abolished. We have seen too many examples of ratepayers' money being wasted over the years. For example: The planning department gives planning permission for extensions, increased race days, etc, for the Dunkeswell Kart Club and the Environmental Agency then has to fight it on excessive noise grounds. Why on earth give permission in the first instance? There is no need for kart racing; it upsets the locals, causes chaos on our roads, pollutes the atmosphere with fumes, noise and light, and serves no purpose locally in terms of income. The current unnecessary battle to stave off a unitary council for Devon has cost the local taxpayers thousands and thousands of pounds. Roll on the unitary authority.Peter Girling Courtbarton Sheldon
