Active Devon are very excited to be hosting a free public cycling festival in Cranbrook on Sunday 15th August from 10am – 2pm at the Younghayes Centre.
It is an opportunity for you and your family to come along and make the most of the mixture of activities on offer including free bike maintenance sessions, the little ones can have a go on the balance bike circuit session, try out the range of adaptable bikes, and a chance to chat to the local providers who can help with confidence, knowledge and provide useful local resources. Free Tea and Coffee will be provided, and goodie bags will be handed out. You will also be able to make your own fruit smoothie on the human powered smoothie bike!
Who is going to be there ?
Local charity Ride On, Wheels for all - Adaptable bikes, Dr Bike - Bookable Bike maintenance, Whizz Kids - Balance bike circuit session, Led Rides - Qualified Ride leaders, Co Bikes - Led Rides, Listening - Community team, Sustrans - Meet the Team, Bikeability - Adult confidence, Exeter Leisure - Introduction to Cycle Exercise classes.
If you haven’t ridden a bike for a long time or ever, then now’s your chance to try out a FREE e-bike taster session.
Co Bikes, in partnership with East Devon District Council and Sustrans, will be offering e-bike taster rides to local residents. If you’ve never tried an electric bike before, this is the perfect place to start! Qualified ride leader Charlotte Wilson, a resident of Cranbrook who regularly cycles the quiet lanes, will lead groups of up to 8 from the Younghayes Centre. Be prepared to get that e-bike smile! Our ride will be tailored to the group’s ability, but all riders need to be aged 16 years or above. Rides will depart at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm and it’s first come, first saddled up on the day! If you’ve got toddlers, we also have an e-bike for adults which can take two toddlers on the back!
The happiness doesn’t end there though. We have further FREE e-bike ride sessions on the following Sunday afternoons between 1pm and 5pm. You must be 16 or over to book - email cvrp@eastdevon.gov.uk or call Simon Bates on 01395 571747.
