18th century landowner to return to woodland

An actor will play the part of 18th century Bishop Coplestone during a family pond dip at the Woodland Education Centre in Offwell.

The ‘bishop’ is returning to the grounds of his former home to see the remarkable wetland wildlife and habitats - his lasting legacy, established 200 years ago.

A spokesman for the centre said: “You can help the bishop keep a record of all the wildlife he has in and around his ponds and lakes.”

The free event will take place during morning and afternoon sessions on Wednesday, August 15.

Families are invited to bring along a picnic and wet weather clothing in case of rain.

Booking is essential and numbers are limited.

The event will be filmed for educational use and as an historical record of the day.

If you would like to attend but not be filmed, you must let the event organisers know in advance.
