ADAM Ward, the Youth Parliament Member for Mid and East Devon, was one of 300 young people to make history at the House of Commons recently.
He was greeted by The Speaker, John Bercow, and was able to sit on the green benches in the chamber for a debate - the first time anyone, other than MPs, has been allowed to do this.
"There were five debates on issues, including university tuition fees, youth crime and votes at 16," said Adam.
"I was fortunate to speak in the transport debate and raised the point that frequency and availability of public transport in rural areas, such as where I live, make it hard for young people to use trains and buses.
"It was a surreal experience, watching what I said on the BBC's Parliament programme."
Adam, who lives near Honiton, added: "I had a fantastic day. It certainly furthered my passion for politics.
