Archant

Positive noises are continuing around Greggs’ imminent arrival in Honiton after advertising consent for fascia signs were recommended for approval by town planners.

An application for two fascia signs at Unit 1A at Honiton Heathpark Industrial Estate - earmarked by Greggs as a future bakery - were unanimously approved by Honiton Town Council’s planning committee last Tuesday (November 27).

Cllr Duncan Sheridan-Shaw said: “I think it’s vital we do support this.

“It’s going to bring a few jobs in and traders and plumbers and workmen.

“They may not be in the high street but they will still be in the EX14 area. They will go to a tool shop or Screwfix to get their tools and then stop off for a pasty.”

A spokesperson for Greggs said: “We’re looking into the possibility of opening a new shop in Honiton in early 2019, and will have more information about exactly where and when in the near future.”
