HOPES of developing allotments on council-owned land in Hayne Lane, Honiton, have been dashed after East Devon District Council revealed the site has been earmarked for development.

HOPES of developing allotments on council-owned land in Hayne Lane, Honiton, have been dashed - after East Devon District Council revealed the site has been earmarked for development.Honiton Town Council is now back to square one, with 104 people on an allotment waiting list.Councillor Roy Coombs thinks interest in allotments could be far higher. "I would like to see this matter pursued, because there is growing concern for allotments. People are concerned about what they and their families eat."The town council, which upset dog walkers with plans for allotments in Honiton Bottom Road, will discuss the issue again at its next policy committee meeting.
