HONITON Town Council has advertised the vacancy for a town councillor following the resignation of Councillor Sharon Holloway.The Mayor, Councillor Vivienne Ash, announced Mrs Holloway's resignation at the town council's monthly meeting, on Monday, May 11.The mayor paid tribute to Mrs Holloway's work during her time as a councillor, and asked the clerk to write and thank her.Under the rules to get a replacement, 10 members of the public must call for an election, in writing.If this fails to happen, the council can co-opt a new member.The council would also have to co-opt a member, even if 10 electors ask for an election, but not enough candidates come forward to allow a vote to be held.Electors have until Tuesday, May 26 to call for an election.
