Colyton carnival group displays its impressive range of silverware

Colyton’s high-flying Nunsford Nutters Carnival Club presented a cheque for £150 to the Devon Air Ambulance.

The money was handed to trust representative Don Hansford at the group’s HQ in the Colcombe Castle pub.

The club took the opportunity to put on show the silverware it collected during a successful 2014 season.

Amongst the 20 cups and two shields were some special trophies won at four Somerset Guy Fawkes’ carnivals.

This included an award for finishing third overall in the comic class at seven carnivals - North Petherton, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Shepton Mallet, Wells and Glastonbury.

The Nutters believe this could be the first time a Devon club has won a Somerset county cup.

A spokesman praised their supporters with a special thank-you to Gerald and Andrew Knight, on whose land they were allowed to keep their float. New members are welcome – contact Angela 01297 552151 or Irene Hill on 01297 553972.
