Arsonists' three attacks

POLICE in Honiton are hunting arsonists who had the audacity to start a fire while members of the fire and rescue service were just a few feet away putting out a blaze deliberately started earlier.

POLICE in Honiton are hunting arsonists who had the audacity to start a fire while members of the fire and rescue service were just a few feet away putting out a blaze deliberately started earlier.In total, three litterbins were set on fire in Lace Walk between 10pm and 11.15pm on Wednesday, April 9.Officers investigating the spate of arson attacks say the fires could have had "disastrous consequences"."This was potentially a very serious incident as a shop canopy nearly caught fire, which could have had disastrous consequences," said a spokesperson.CCTV footage, capturing images of the potential culprits, have been sent away to experts - to be enhanced.In the meantime, police are appealing for anybody with information to get in touch.Suspects are believed to be part of a group, comprising four males aged between 18 and 18 and three females aged 14 to six.The youths are all described as white with slim builds.One of the males was wearing a distinctive stripy jumper.If you know who they are, call PC Ian Atyeo, Neighbourhood Beat Manager, on 08452 777444, quoting crime reference KH/08/354.
