Seaton fundraisers hand over cheque following Branscombe show
Acclaimed Seaton artist and prolific charity fundraiser Ursula Pratt has presented a cheque for £2,300 to the Honiton Hospiscare team.
The money was raised at an exhibition which she and helpers Gary Rivers and Mike Andrews organised at The Branoc Hall, in Branscombe, over the Easter holidays.
German-born Ursula, who runs a gallery in Fore Street, moved to Britain in 1956 and set up East Devon Artists for Charity.
She organises exhibitions at which fellow artists donate 25 per cent of their picture sale money towards worthy causes.
She was awarded the MBE in 2008 after helping to raise more than £170,000, over nearly 20 years. Some time later she travelled to Buckingham Palace to receive her medal from Prince Charles.
Handing over her latest donation, she said that she and Gary wanted to thank all the visitors and helpers at the Branscombe event for making it possible.
The cheque was received by two members of the Hospiscare Support Group - Sharon Ewart and Eve Deanus - who expressed their appreciation for the donation.
A painting kindly donated by Tina Stokes for a raffle at the Branscombe art show was won by a Mrs Stephens, from Sidford.
