Honiton’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) has been announced as the winner in a competition to bring a top contemporary artist to town.

Luke Jerram will make the visit later this year after THG - which was vying against four other venues - scooped 24 per cent of the overall vote to bring a spectacular art installation and the Museums at Night event to the venue.

However, such was the closeness of the contest, a voting recount was ordered - with THG clinching first place by six votes. THG’s Fiona Page-Turner said: “We want to thank everyone who voted for us - we really appreciate all the support.

“We are so excited to bring this national event to Honiton in October.”
