Author inspires high flyers to new heights

University lecturer Steve Voake passes on his creative writing tips at Axminster workshop

HIGH flying students learnt about creative writing at Axe Valley Community College last week.

Author and university lecturer Steve Voake went along to inspire and develop the skills of the ASPIRE group, of gifted and talented learners, from years nine to 13.

He read passages from some of his 20 books, described the real life scenarios that provided the backdrop to his novels and shared tools and techniques to help any budding writer develop a character and a plot.

All the students were very engaged with his style and produced some highly creative work that some felt brave enough to share.
