He was joined by the illustrator, Sarah McIntyre, and together they talked about their forthcoming book, Seawigs.

Sarah also conducted a brief drawing workshop, showing students how to create one of the characters from the book.

The school was delighted to host the visit, especially given the reputation of the talented duo.

Philip Reeve is a previous winner of the Carnegie Prize and his Mortal Engines series is recognised as one of the most outstanding works of children’s literature published in recent years.

Sarah has a growing reputation in the world of illustration and offered a dazzling display of her talent to the students taking part.

As part of the Year 7 literacy course, many students have studied Mortal Engines and they were delighted to be able to ask the author all sorts of questions about the book.
