The official opening of the Axe Valley Christians Against Poverty Centre took place on Thursday, April 1, at midday, at St Gregory’s Church Centre in Seaton.
The opening was carried out by town mayor Ken Beer and centre manager Alison Finch, who is also one of the associate priests at St Gregory’s. Councillor Beer acknowledged the important work of Christians Against Poverty and the much needed support for people who are in financial difficulties.
The centre encourages people to contact them as they are keen to help as many as possible with this free and friendly service. Cllr Beer was delighted to be able to open what he could see would be a vital and important facility for Seaton and its locality and wished all concerned every success.
Meanwhile, St Gregory’s Church opened its doors for the first time this year when it celebrated Easter Sunday.
There was praise and thanks to all those who carefully and generously prepared the church and to those who hosted the service with beautiful music, prayers, readings and a talk. The service has been recorded and is available to watch on www.facebook.com/stgregsseaton

Young helper Jacob helped prepare the Easter garden which was filled with eggs on Easter Sunday for local families to help themselves to!
The local community church will be open each Sunday at 11am and all are welcome to go along.
