Archant

There was a sense of sunshine and summer days on at The Axe Valley Community College as the music department put on their Summer Spectacular Concert to a packed audience.

Pupils and staff showcased their musical talent with group sets from the steel band, school orchestra, samba band and rock school. The year 10 boys a capella version of The Longest Time was a particular highlight.

There was a magnificent piano solo, on the school’s new grand piano, by year 11 student Toby Willis performing I Giorni.

Further solo performances from Rosie Manley, Holly Stock, Jacob Horton, Jason Lawson, Martha Budden, Courtney Hartnell, Elizabeth Heighway, Milly Chaplyn, Jess Hill and Layla James completed the evening’s entertainment.

Special tributes were paid to Jennie Maby who leaves the music department at the end of this term after 15 years at the college.
