BBC Syria correspondent Diana Darke visited The Axe Valley Community College to tell sixth form students about her work.
Her recently published book - My House in Damascus - An Inside View of the Syrian Revolution - gives an amazing account of living and working in a country which is at the top of the news feeds on a daily basis.
The presentation was brought to life by vivid photographs, bringing students and staff up to date with current troubles in Syria.
