Sponsors splash out to help East Devon lifeboat supporters

LIFEBOAT supporters from across East Devon pulled on their walking boots to help keep the life-saving service afloat.

Members of Seaton, Beer and District Branch of the RNLI raised some 500 from their annual sponsored walk.

They set off from Woodhouse Lane, near Uplyme, and headed along the East Devon Way, footpaths and lanes to Musbury, then Colyton, Colyford and Seaton.

Some walkers chose to break off after six miles at Colyford, while others completed the full eight-mile trek to Seaton.

Fourteen adults took part, along with three children and five dogs.

Secretary Wendy Cummins said: “It was a perfect sunny day for walking and there were spectacular views across and up the Axe Valley from Musbury Castle and also down in the direction of Beer Head. It wasn’t too muddy except for a section of footpath between Whitford and Colyton.”
