Today (September 9) is the big day in Axminster, the day being photographed for posterity.
Today (September 9) is the big day in Axminster, the day being photographed for posterity.
A Snapshot of Axminster is being taken by the public on digital cameras to form an archive that will be handed down the generations.
The DVD on which the pictures will be placed is to be presented to the town and later sold for local charities in the run-up to Christmas.
The imaginative project is being organised by the Rotary Club of Axminster in conjunction with the Axminster Photography Group and supported by Midweek Herald.
Over the past three weeks we have reported how it has grown to include sections photographed by members of the Axminster Photographic Group and the Axminster Power Tools photographic club and historical pictures of the town from two local collections.
Together, they will capture the character of the town for future generations to see.

Today, being 090909, the ninth day of the ninth month of the ninth year of the century, the public are being asked to shoot street scenes, activities at work and at school and buildings and shops familiar to us all.
The very best will be displayed on the DVD cover.
Herald editor Belinda Bennett said: "We are delighted to be backing this unusual idea.
"To capture the life of Axminster in one day will be something people will be able to look back on with interest.
"Afterwards we are hoping to feature some of the images in the Herald.
Pictures have to be emailed by Wednesday, September 30 to Rotary@Axminsteronline.com along with an entry form downloaded from www.Axminsteronline.com
