A train travelling to Axminster was damaged after a brick was thrown onto its roof.

The train’s roof was damaged, but police say the act could have been fatal to passengers on board.

In a statement posted on social media, the British Transport Police said: “[This was] an extremely reckless and dangerous thing to do and it could have easily resulted in serious injury or even death.”

South Western Railway runs the main line between Exeter and London Waterloo - Axminster is one of the stops.
