Axminster Care Service’s team of unpaid helpers will be thanked for their contribution at a Volunteers’ Fayre at The Guildhall on Thursday, June 1.
The local charity has an enthusiastic group of around 60 members, helping people registered with, or in the area of Axminster Medical Practice, to receive the support they need.
They provide a vast range of services, including transportation for hospital or doctor’s appointments; hosting the Tuesday Lunch Club at the Senior Citizens Centre, where both good food and good company is on offer; assistance for individuals or families who are in need of emergency funding; assistance to other organisations in need of support to allow them to keep functioning and moving forward.
Mervyn Symes, a trustee of Axminster Care Service said: “The Care Service is largely funded by our shop Charity Togs, in South Street, without which a lot of our services wouldn’t be possible.”
The Volunteers’ Fayre starts at 11.30am.
