Musicians entertain at Hawkchurch hotel’s monthly lunch club
Saxophone choir ‘Saxminster’ entertained members of the Fairwater Head Hotel’s monthly lunch club with an eclectic mix of music.
It performed a wide range of pieces from Glen Miller to Queen, jazz to classical, plus a few of the members’ old favourites.
Carrie Southwell, owner of the Hawkchurch hotel, said: “The choir were certainly a hit with the lunch club. We meet every month and usually have a guest speaker but thought some summer music would be fun, which it definitely was and we’d like to thank the choir for their talented performance”
Based in Axminster, the Saxminster choir, is made up of baritone, alto, tenor and soprano saxophone players. Members meet once a week and, whilst focusing on playing for pleasure, they are always introducing new music with a view to performing at charity functions and local events.
