Axminster church appeal

Officials have been advised to install a second lightning conductor on the tower to keep the historic building safe from thunderbolts.

The cost is included in a new “wish list” published by the Parochial Church Council this month to highlight areas at The Minster needing funding.

Others include a custom-made parvis door replacement at £555, additions and improvement to the sound systems costing £2,100 and £110 for general health and safety items.

New heaters costing £4,500 are being paid for by Axminster Care Service while a new St George’s flag has been donated by a supporter.
