Axminster Hospital closes after water main bursts

The flooding has caused some infrastructure damage, which has affected the hospital’s IT services and electricity supply.
Axminster Community Hospital has been temporarily closed this morning (Monday) due to a burst water main pipe in the cellar.
The flooding has caused some infrastructure damage, which has affected the hospital’s IT services and electricity supply.
As a result, services at the hospital have been temporarily suspended.
Staff from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust have been working on site this morning to resolve the situation, with support from Northern Devon Healthcare Trust and other partner agencies.

Crew members from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have also been in attendance to assist with pumping out the water.
A spokesman for Axminster Hospital said: “Many outpatients clinics have already been rearranged at neighbouring community hospitals today however some appointments have regrettably been cancelled this week.
