Axminster men accused of assaulting police officers

TWO Axminster men have appeared in court on charges of assaulting police officers. Benjamin Alec Jefford, 22, and Neville David Jefford, 43, both of Red Pit, Hawkchurch, appeared at Central Devon Magistrates Court yesterday (March 16).

TWO Axminster men have appeared in court on charges of assaulting police officers.

Benjamin Alec Jefford, 22, and Neville David Jefford, 43, both of Red Pit, Hawkchurch, appeared at Central Devon Magistrates' Court yesterday (March 16).

The former is alleged to have assaulted Shaun Carpenter, a constable in the execution of his duty, on February 24.

The latter faces similar charges against constable James Vincent on the same date.

The case has been adjourned until April 6.
