Congregation now meets in the Pippins Community Centre where all are welcome

Axminster Methodist Church is keen to stress it’s alive and kicking - in spite of some appearances to the contrary.

The church has vacated its old building and moved over the road to Pippins Community Centre where it holds its services as usual and where it is able to play more of a part in the local community.

A spokeswoman said: “We have a small chapel which we call the Upper Room, upstairs in Pippins, and meet every Sunday at 10.30am with an ecumenical gathering on the first Sunday of each month at 4pm when we usually have a discussion about topical issues.

“Visitors are always very welcome at all those services. The Job Club and Citizens Advice have also moved over there and are open from 9am to 12noon every Thursday – these are drop in services and free of charge.”
