Tribute to charity fund raiser will be preserved
A MEMORIAL to “Axminster Music Man” Norman Welsh is to be safeguarded.
There were concerns that the colourful tribute, on a gas box at the redundant Philips Centre, might be destroyed when the area is redeveloped.
But the town council has now been told by the site owners that the plaque will be put into storage until a permanent new home can be found for it.
Mr Welsh raised thousands of pounds for charity playing his accordion in and around Axminster and Lyme Regis and was made an MBE for his efforts.
