Axminster Operatic Society put on My Fair Lady for the carnival.

Secretary Rose Harvey said: "It's exciting. We won't put the music on yet because the battery will die down."

She said her father, Frank Rowe, had been heavily involved with the carnival and she still enjoyed the excitement of carnival night.

"I love carnival. I think every year it's the same - that wonderful excitement when the band starts playing.
