A 90-year-old Axminster woman had over �1,000 worth of goods stolen following a distraction burglary.
A 90-year-old Axminster woman had over �1,000 worth of goods stolen following a distraction burglary.
Police said the woman, who lives in Millwey Rise, was visited by a man posing as a staff worker with South West Water Board - saying he wanted to read her meter.
Neighbourhood beat manager Darren Herridge believes another man stole the cash and jewellery while the victim was distracted.
And he is warning other residents to be vigilant following the incident on Thursday, April 8, between 12noon and 1pm.

He said: "If someone comes to your door saying they are from a company, ring to check they are who they say they are before letting them in. Any legitimate staff member will not mind."
The man was described as white and in his 40s. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 08452 777 444.
