AXMINSTER police have highlighted areas prone to speeding following covert checks in the town.
Neighbourhood beat manager Pc Darren Herridge said during the monthly council meeting that the Crewkerne Road was an area of concern. He said during checks 77 vehicles passed by, and 14 were found to be driving above the legal speed limit.
In Chard Road, of 74 vehicles two were driving above the legal speed limit, and, in Musbury Road, one out of 77 drove at excess speed.
Pc Herridge said: "We were doing it covertly to monitor and educate people. The Crewkerne area is a problem, but other areas, in the main - from the times we studied - are not.
