AXMINSTER police has thanked Tesco for its support during the Snowdon Challenge, which it ran with youths in the town.

Four officers, two adult volunteers, and 14 young people took part in various tasks and gruelling trek last month in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The group raised over £2,000, and nearly half of it was raised through collections outside the Tesco. The supermarket also provided food and drink for the trip.

Neighbourhood beat manger Pc Kevin Bennett, who organised the event, said: "We wouldn't have bee able to do it without them."

* Police will be running a similar event in July, expected to culminate in a team entering in the Commando Challenge 2010. For more information, contact Pc 6105 Kevin Bennett at Axminster police station or call 08452 777 444.
