Top award for five troop members who completed a series of tough challenges
Five members of the 1st Axminster Scout Troop have received their gold awards after completing a tough series of challenges.
Leader Alison Marler recently presented certificates to Harry Herbert 14, Fred Bennett 12, Ryan Bourough 12, Christopher Grabham 14 and Chris Loverage 14.
To win their gold awards the youngsters had to go on camps and take part in activities like canoeing, climbing, cooking and putting up their tents. They also carried out work in the community and attended the Remembrance Day church parade. And in addition they have had to do homework and research about world scout groups and fitness training.
Praising them for their achievement, Alison said: “These are just a few of our hard working scouts that have passed this award and the rest are coming along strong.”
