CRIME is up significantly in Axminster compared to last year, according to police figures.
Neighbourhood beat manager Pc Darren Herridge said during the monthly council meeting there had been 35 reported crimes last month, compared to 20 for the same period last year.
He told the Herald: "There's no distinguishing pattern or single thing which I can put my finger on to say why the crime is significantly higher than last year."
Crimes reported included: nine incidents of criminal damage, two arsons, eight thefts, five burglaries, two assaults inflicting actual bodily harm, one common assault, one sexual assault, three for possession of cannabis and three false representations.
